Martine Iggo has been working in the healthcare industry for over 30 years. She has extensive experience in quality and risk management and aged care auditing. She has managed a wide range of services including dementia care, palliative and hospice care, aged care. Undoubtedly, her most valuable attribute as far as “Fitzroy of Merivale” is concerned, is her professionalism, empathy and warmth whilst working with all the stakeholders - residents, their families and representatives, staff, attending general practitioners, allied health professionals, contractors and visitors.
Whilst residing at Fitzroy you will always have access to the Facility Manager, with her knowledge and understanding of the care of the older adult in a residential setting. However, it will be our staff with whom you will spend a considerable amount of time. “Fitzroy” enjoys a reputation as being “different from the rest”. Some people might say it is “boutique like”, “small”, “charming”, “private”, “personalised”, “the staff are friendly” but all will tell you it is very special. The reason for this is the staff. The skill mix, experience, caring and dedication of the Fitzroy staff is exemplary. A number of the staff have worked at Fitzroy for many years. All our staff are engaged in on-going training and professional development. The team includes Registered Nurses, Enrolled Nurses, Care-givers, Housekeepers, Chefs, Diversional Therapists, Gardeners and Support Staff. Fitzroy’s multi-disciplinary team of highly skilled health-care professionals will assist in caring and supporting you to enjoy each and every day at Fitzroy, maximising your independence and quality of life. An additional benefit of residing at this facility is the opportunity to develop a trusting relationship with our professional, highly skilled staff.
With it’s obvious style and elegance “Fitzroy” is nestled neatly alongside the Nurse Maude hospital in the heart of Merivale with less than 100 steps to all that the Merivale precinct has to offer. Grace and serenity become apparent as you move into the Fitzroy facility. A number of the 30 rooms have a direct view across the main lawn, gardens and entranceway. All the rooms enjoy direct access through a door out to their own private courtyard or garden. A clear paved pathway meanders around the entire facility through perfumed gardens and mature rhododendrons. Every room is stylish and unique in its décor, has its own ensuite, tea and coffee making facilities, telephone, television and nurse call. Our lounges and dining room are tasteful and spacious. We at Fitzroy believe dining should be an experience for all to enjoy. White tablecloths, linen serviettes and intimate dining room table settings are the norm.
